In the electric forklift industry, pricing is influenced by various factors. Below are the most important ones:
1. Lifting Capacity
- The higher the capacity (1.5 tons, 2 tons, 3 tons…), the higher the price.
- Stronger frames, electric motors, and controllers are required.
2. Lift Height
- The higher the lift height (3m, 4.5m, 6m…), the more expensive due to stronger masts and longer hydraulic cylinders.
3. Battery Type
- Lead-acid: popular and cheaper, but requires regular maintenance.
- Lithium-ion: 30–50% more expensive, but durable, maintenance-free, and fast-charging.
4. Brand & Origin
-
Japanese (Toyota, Komatsu) and German (Still, Jungheinrich) forklifts are more expensive.
-
Chinese (EP, IMOW) or local brands are cheaper.
5. Type of Electric Forklift
-
3-wheel sit-down: flexible, slightly cheaper.
-
4-wheel sit-down: stable, for heavy loads, more expensive.
-
Stand-up / reach truck: for high-rack warehouses, price depends on design and reach.
6. Condition
-
100% new: most expensive.
-
Used (imported or local): depends on year, usage hours, battery/engine condition.
-
Reconditioned: mid-price, easier to sell if warranty is provided.
7. Additional Features
-
Cameras, LCD screens, air conditioning, safety sensors, auto leveling, safety locks, fast chargers…
→ Can increase price by 10–30%.
8. Warranty & After-sales Support
- Long warranties (2–3 years), on-site support, and available spare parts may increase cost but provide peace of mind.
9. Controller System
- Curtis (USA) and Zapi (Italy) are more expensive than Chinese controllers.
- Smarter controllers (speed adjustment, sensitivity, overload protection…) raise the price.
10. Braking System & Wheels
- Electromagnetic brakes, PU wheels, or specialized rubber wheels are more expensive.
- Wheel type must match the floor: smooth or rough, indoor or outdoor.
11. Size & Frame Design
- Compact forklifts for narrow aisles (e.g., furniture, electronics industry) may be customized, leading to higher cost.
- Special requests (low mast, added attachments, paper roll clamps, unique pallets…) also raise costs.
12. Shipping & Import Fees
- Prices are affected by import tax, container shipping costs, and USD/VND exchange rate.
- Market fluctuations (high logistics cost, shortages) can drive up prices unrelated to the forklift itself.
13. Timing of Purchase
- Buying during promotions, year-end clearance, or stock liquidation offers better pricing.
- Some dealers offer special deals (free maintenance, backup battery included).
